The Hitman is a supporting character and antagonist in A Way Out.

Description

The hitman is a middle-aged man of medium build with slicked-back, black hair and a 5 o’clock shadow. He is seen wearing dark blue jeans and a weathered, black leather jacket over a floral paisley button-up shirt. While he doesn’t conceal his identity, he does wear black leather gloves to, presumably, avoid leaving fingerprints.

Game Events

After Harvey demands they sic “our best guy” on him, Sean sends an unnamed hitman to kill Leo. The hitman tracks Leo down in front of Five Lakes’ East River Theater where he fails to shoot him with a silenced pistol. Caught under fire along with Leo, and with the both of them unarmed, Vincent joins Leo in fleeing into the theater.

The hitman’s pursuit is slow yet dogged. He breaks through an improvised barricade just as Leo and Vincent escape into the theater’s ventilation system and later is persistent with shooting at them as they traverse a backstage catwalk. He is eventually ambushed and he, Leo, and Vincent all tumble onto the theater’s stage. The hitman recovers from the fall first, elbowing Leo away from him and nearly succeeding in physically strangling Vincent. His attempt is interrupted and turned around on him when Leo grabs a cord and wraps it around the hitman’s neck. Hauled off of Vincent and pulled to the floor, the hitman fails to free himself and is strangled to death by Leo and Vincent working together to keep the cord taut.

Trivia

• The Hitman originally had a handlebar mustache in the 3D renders by Jacob Larsson, Hazelight's lead character art director, but that detail did not make it into the final game.
